Brilliant 12-year-old Lewis invents a machine that recovers forgotten memories, hoping to find his mother with it. The machine is stolen by a dastardly villain, and then a mysterious boy whisks the young genius forward in time, where he encounters a family whose survival depends on his ingenuity.
