In this adventure based on a novel by superstar author Michael Crichton, Arab courtier Ahmed Ibn Fahdlan (Antonio Banderas) is sent to the barbaric North as an emissary, an act meant to punish him for falling in love with the wrong woman. In the world of AD 922, this is tantamount to lifetime banishment. When he first meets the Viking warriors of the North, Ibn is appalled by their crude customs and behavior. But when the Wendol, creatures of the Mist, attack the Viking homeland, killing and eating everyone in their way, Ibn agrees to join the Vikings in an all-out attack against their frightening and mysterious enemy. Even though he has never been a warrior, Ibn becomes the mystical thirteenth warrior foreseen by a Viking oracle.
