Francois is an ambitious young detective on the trail of a gang of notorious bank robbers. His private life is complicated but, professionally, he is going places, until his older brother, Gabriel, is released from prison. Gabriel promises to go straight and Francois allows his brother to live in his apartment while he finds him a job. But Francois' adoration of his older brother quickly turns to resentment when Gabriel is convicted of murder. Francois joins the police and soon impresses his superiors, but Gabriel could once more wreck his hopes and plans...
