It's 1955 and with the construction of a new dam, the town of Northfork in destined to disappear underwater forever. Salesmen compete to convince long time residents to abandon their homesteads. Meanwhile, a frail dying orphan boy dreams of escape with a band of eccentrics, who are actually angels. In his imagination he finds the strength to deal with loss and break free.
