David Ackerman has just been promoted. He’s an L.A. cop gone undercover, a plain-clothes detective who chose the Grand Theft Auto division as a means of advancement. It was a simple, uncomplicated move. Then Ackerman meets his new partner, Nick Pulovski. Pulovski is a man obsessed. He’s a grizzled, short-tempered veteran cop who is intent on avenging the murder of his previous partner. He is impatient, caustic, crude and he smokes cigars. He is also prone to violence.
